CHARACTER
Name: "Black Leg" Sanji
True Name: Sanji Vinsmoke. This is the name he was born with, proof of his royal lineage, but he's long since abdicated his position as prince. Also, he just really fucking hates his family, so fuck that name.
Canon: One Piece (Chapter 1035)
Age: 21
History: Pre-timeskip and post-timeskip (before and after chapter 597)

Powers/Abilities:
Master Chef
Sanji has perfected nearly every aspect of the culinary arts. As a sea cook used to spending extended amounts of time unable to replenish his supplies, he's also exceptionally resourceful, able to make even leftover scraps into a gourmet meal. He can deduce every ingredient in the food he's presented solely by smell and identify exactly how they were prepared with a taste. He wields kitchen knives with practiced ease and tends toward performative cooking, spinning blades and juggling skillets with a smile.

He is also in possession of ninety-nine attack cuisine recipes. These are unique recipes that amp the rejuvenating power of food to the extreme and build up powerful physiques. Basically, he can cook actual super foods for combatants.

Martial Arts
As a chef, Sanji can't afford to lose his hands in battle, so he utilizes a kick based martial art style that he learned from his surrogate father Zeff. Although this style relies heavily on leg strength, his acrobatic stunts also require perfect balance, agility, flexibility, and upper body strength. His physical power and endurance are immense, allowing him to dispatch dinosaurs with ease and survive multiple lightning strikes without permanent damage. His true strength, however, lies in his speed. Indeed, he is so fast that rapid fire kicking the air or water allows him to run without land. He calls this "Sky Walk" and "Blue Walk" respectively.

Fire
In order to add more power to his kicks, Sanji developed his signature technique "Diable Jambe". It involves heating his legs until they glow red hot like a branding iron, adding burn damage to every attack. Over time, his control over this technique has grown, and he's expanded it into an adjacent technique he calls "Hell Memories". All he has to do is let the emotions flow and he can set his entire body aflame with passion alone. Somehow, he's never burnt by his own flames. It doesn't make sense, but that's Sanji for you. His passion trumps everything, even physics.

Haki
Haki is the spiritual energy of One Piece's universe and comes in three flavors: Kenbunshoku (Observation), Busoshoku (Armament), and Haoshoku (Conqueror). Sanji specializes in Observation Haki with a secondary proficiency in Armament.

His Observation Haki is advanced enough that he can not only use it to sense where other living beings are but also how powerful they are and their current mental state. This ability is how he was able to "see" that Captain Tashigi was crying after she lost her fight against Vergo and come to her aid despite having been nowhere near the fight when it occurred. He didn't read their minds or literally see her tears. He simply sensed one powerful presence exuding frigid killing intent next to a weakened presence enveloped in despair. While this ability doesn't read minds, Sanji has used it to confirm other people's true intentions, calling out those enemies who didn't actually have any desire to hurt him and easily working together with strangers he's verified are friendlies.

He uses Armament Haki to harden his legs when he fights. This not only adds strength to his attacks, it also protects his legs when his kicks are blocked by a more powerful opponent. He cannot coat his entire body in Armament Haki, however, and this leaves his defense somewhat lacking.

Genetic Modifications
Sanji is coming into the game after having just undergone drastic physical changes to his body. Not unlike something out of a superhero movie, it's likely that he is now sporting a complete exoskeleton and an accelerated healing factor. His broken bones snap back into place in a grotesque, inhuman manner, and non-reinforced blades shatter while trying to cut through him. This is not a form of immortality. We know this because the Big Mom Pirates invented bullets that could pierce the Vinsmoke exoskeletons. It is pretty close though, and we don't yet know the extent of these changes because Sanji hasn't had time to experiment. I would be totally fine if these augmentations were nerfed or partially nerfed, mysteriously turning off the moment an event calls for it.

Miscellaneous
Sanji knows how to maintain and operate various period-specific guns though they're not his choice weapon.

He's known for his ability to see the whole picture and think ahead, entirely willing to pop off in the middle of a battle to sabotage some engines, create a whirlpool, or secretly board a train with a bunch of government spies in order to make his crewmates' jobs easier.

Hilariously, he is also capable of reconstructing a person's face with his kicks.

Inventory: One abused and bloody maroon suit complete with dress shoes and gloves, two packs of cigarettes (DEATH lite), one golden lighter

Job History:
Third Prince (birth to nine years old)
Sanji was born the third of four quadruplet heirs to the Germa Kingdom. He was also the only heir who wasn't genetically enhanced in the womb. He underwent basic combat and etiquette training, but the only skill he managed to retain was not dying every time his super-soldier brothers decided it'd be funny to bully him for having hobbies.

Prisoner (about six months)
Eventually Sanji's biological father grew so disappointed in him that he announced his tragic death to the public, locked him in an iron mask, and dumped him in a prison cell. Sanji was nine. He spent the long stretches of time between beatings self-teaching himself from any book he could get his hands on. Endurance and patience were the virtues of the day, and he mastered them. Well, that and the art of befriending mice.

Chef (ten years old to present)
After escaping, Sanji was able to begin work as an apprentice chef at the floating restaurant Baratie. He excelled and was eventually promoted to sous chef despite being the youngest on staff. As sous chef, he oversaw the kitchens, supplied the restaurant, and even waited tables whenever the wait staff jumped ship because the chefs were too rowdy. His terrible customer service was something of a selling point, seeing as the Baratie's unique hook is its fighting cooks, known for dispatching pirates right there where the customers can watch. Job requirements include kitchen experience, resourcefulness, a stubborn streak, martial arts prowess, and obnoxiously manly machismo.

Pirate (nineteen years old to present)
Sanji never quit being a chef, he just jumped ship. Rather than cooking for Baratie, he is now the official chef for the Straw Hat Pirates. This also means he's a criminal wanted by the world government because he and his buddies have instigated too many revolutions. His time with the crew has taught him teamwork, split-second decision making, stealth tactics, and how to look damn fine drenched in blood splatter.

Suppressions: Fantasies? Desires? "Mad" thoughts? Sanji has never suppressed such things a day in his life. He is so ridiculously open about his perversions that he gets taken advantage of at least once every arc. He does, however, suppress one aspect of himself with religious fervor: his own femininity.

Sanji was born and brutalized in an environment openly hostile to any and every vulnerability. He was later lovingly raised in an environment rampant with rough and tumble machismo. It's no surprise then that he put two and two together. As a man, he must always act manly because anything that isn't manly is vulnerability, and vulnerability will not be tolerated. Unlike his captain and first mate who are natural born Shounen Jump protagonists, Sanji's masculinity has been painstakingly cultivated over the years. His nicotine addiction, his flashy suits, his dedication to martial arts, his over-the-top, performative love for women and belligerent attitude toward other men are all things he has cultivated within himself in order to suppress and obfuscate his more traditionally feminine traits such as empathy, compassion, gentleness, sensitivity, humility, and the desire to take care of others.

He's successful on a surface level but hilariously transparent toward anyone who knows him. Aggressively insulting some poor, unsuspecting stranger only works as a distraction if said stranger leaves before Sanji cooks all his favorite foods, heats up water for his relaxing bath, and fluffs his pillows to make sure he's comfortable.

Greatest Fear: Sanji's greatest fear is that he is a failure. To clarify, he's not afraid of failing. He loses fights and makes mistakes over the course of the series, but he doesn't consider these failures to define him because he is able to learn from them or otherwise spin them positively. What he is afraid of, specifically, is that his existence itself is one of inherent failure, something his biological father continues to assert to this day. He absolutely ties his self worth to how useful he is in any given situation. Thus he is terrified of being rendered helpless, of losing his usefulness (i.e. injuring his hands and so being unable to cook), of not meeting expectations, and of dragging his loved ones down with him. This fear drives him to self-sacrificing extremes on multiple occasions. After all, the life of a failure isn't worth that much anyway.

Greatest Desire: Sanji's greatest desire is to find the All Blue, a legendary sea in which all fish from every sea in the world congregate. It is considered to be a chef's paradise and thus too good to be true, an obvious pipe dream. Believing in All Blue's existence will get one laughed out of most respectable kitchens. Sanji is determined to keep believing nonetheless.

Greatest Regret: Sanji's greatest regret is that his surrogate father Zeff cannibalized his own leg in order to keep both of them alive. Back when the two were adversarial strangers, they were stranded on a rock in the middle of the ocean with almost no food or water for over two months. When the passage of time had turned Sanji desperate and feral, he'd even held a knife on the man, determined to steal whatever remained of Zeff's share of the food, only to realize that Zeff had given him every last crumb they'd had and thus been forced to eat his own leg instead.

At his current canon point, however, he's starting to question whether he's just achieved a shiny new regret to top his list. Despite being well aware that he cannot trust his biological family, he made the conscious choice to use the technologically powerful raid suit they gifted him after he saved their lives. It got him through several battles and allowed him to discover important information, but those victories came with a cost. In the middle of his fight with Queen, his body began to alter itself, undergoing the same genetic augmentations as his siblings. While Sanji isn't afraid of the physical changes to his body, he's terrified by the knowledge that all three of his brothers were rendered emotionless psychopaths by their genetic modifications. He doesn't know yet if he will meet the same fate, but if he does, he's already asked fellow crewmate Zoro to put him down.
